Modelling My Work Space

My room modelled out of paper

My room modelled out of cardboard

I found working with card a lot easier than normal paper as the sturdiness made it easier to put in the windows and the rooms entrance door. Also it was much easier to put together as it would not fall apart like the paper would.

My room made from cardboard and with the addition of a geometric ceiling

I found working with cardboard a lot easier than paper as the sturdiness of the board made it easier to put together and add in the detailing of the veranda double door and the rooms entrance door.

When changing/adding to the work space, I wanted to do something creative with the ceiling. I was drawn to 'X-form span' folding technique because of its intricate shapes and it's ability to morph and bend into new forms. By adding this pattern to the ceiling it adds a creative and enticing element to the room which is not something a 'simple' room would include. My ceiling in reality has a trapezoidal shape. I wanted to change this to contrast to the symmetric straight walls. The dome of shapes adds a continuous, mosaic like form changing the room to be taller and intriguing to look at.
